Internal mobility, employee movement across teams within an organization, has become central to strategic human capital management. Yet internal movers' transition process remains poorly understood. This talk shows that internal mobility is distinct in three ways: 1) movers carry pre-existing organizational experiences into the transition, 2) they face relational tension in balancing collaborations to both origin and destination teams, and 3) their moves generate trade-offs across individual and team levels. Together, this talk shifts attention from whether employees move to how internal movers manage their transition process, with implications for how organizations design internal mobility practices.

演讲人简介：

Yezi Kang is a PhD candidate at the University of Groningen in the Netherlands. Her research examines how organizations and managers can effectively manage employee transitions, including transitions across firms (i.e., newcomer socialization) and within firms (i.e., internal mobility). She adopts network and dynamic perspectives to examine how employees’ relationships with colleagues shape their transition experiences over time. Her research primarily draws on organizational archival data, such as communication, collaboration, and personnel records. She received the Best Student Paper Award from the HR Division of the Academy of Management in 2025, and her work has been published in the Journal of Applied Psychology.
