内容简介:
The rapidly changing and increasingly complex processes enabled by Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications challenge the conventional concepts of operations. In contrast to a general perception that AI adoption can augment human output, managers still lack empirical guidance on how to frame decision-making with human-AI interaction across time and space. Drawing on observations from case studied in the aerospace, heavy engineering, information technology, and pharmaceutical sectors, this talk presents the co-evolution of learning and creation processes with insights from paradox theory and systems thinking. A set of transformative characteristics centralized on Originality, Reliability, Transferability, and Adaptability (ORTA) are identified to guide decision-making along multi-stage and cross-layer innovation processes involving cyclical handoffs between humans and machine agents. These ORTA characteristics form a base for strategic decision-making along the Human and AI spectrum suited to prepare companies for survival and prosperity in their journeys of digital transformation.
演讲人简介:
Yufeng Zhang is Professor of Operations Management at the University of Birmingham and Fellow of the Alan Turing Institute, UK. He holds BEng in Mechanical Engineering and BEng in International Finance from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, MSc in Global Production Engineering from the Technical University of Berlin, and PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge, UK. Yufeng worked in a Japanese manufacturing company before this academic career with responsibilities for project management and new business development. His research focuses on Global Network Operations, with a specific interest in sustainable operations, digital transformation, and engineering innovation. His work aims to help organizations cope with challenges and opportunities in complex network operations within a globalized environment through the use and innovation of artificial intelligence (AI).
Yufeng is Founding Director of the AI Management Lab. He was Reviewer for Turing Ethics Committee and Scientific Advisor for Innovate-UK BridgeAI, aiming to help UK organizations harness the power of AI. He was elected to the Executive Board of the European Operations Management Association (EurOMA) and selected into provincial and national talent programs in China.
