In this talk, I will review research on the role of goal orientation in creativity and innovation. I will review various typologies of goal orientation, summarize the basic pattern of findings regarding goal orientation and creativity and innovation, highlight the major limitations of extant research, and suggest potential future research directions. I will also briefly present an ongoing work following one of the recommended research direction.

演讲人简介：

Bio. Yaping Gong is Chair Professor of Management at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His work has been published in journals such as the Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Strategic Management Journal, Journal of Management, Journal of International Business Studies, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Human Resource Management, Human Relations, etc. His research on creativity has received various recognitions including Emerald Citation of Excellence Award (2013 and 2016), The All-academy Carolyn Dexter Best International Paper Award Finalist (2013), Journal of Management Scholarly Impact Award Finalist (2017), the IACMR-RRBM Award Finalist (2019), and the Academy of Management Conference Best Paper Award (2023). He has previously served as an Associate Editor for Academy of Management Perspectives (2018-2021), Management and Organization Review (2013-2017), and Asia Pacific Journal of Management (2010-2012), and an editorial board member for Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Organizational Behavior, Journal of Occupational and Organizational Psychology, and Management and Organization Review. He is currently an editorial board member for the Academy of Management Journal and Journal of Management. He won recognitions for professional services such as Academy of Management Journal Best Reviewers Award (2016), Management and Organization Review Best Senior Editors Award (2015), and IACMR Conference Best Reviewers Award (2016).
