SJTU’s 130th Anniversary: Antai Alumni Reunite to Honor the Past and Connect the Future 2026-04-07


On the occasion of the 130th anniversary of Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), alumni from the Antai College of Economics and Management (ACEM) around the world returned to their alma mater. They came to relive fond memories of their youth, reconnect with old friends, and discuss future development, all while celebrating this milestone for the university.


Shine with Glory — 130th Anniversary Alumni Reunion Day


1.jpgAt 10 a.m., the Alumni Reunion Day marking the 130th anniversary of SJTU commenced at the main venue on Minhang Campus. Alumni gathered from all directions to listen to the university's development report, reflect on its 130-year educational journey, and witness its remarkable achievements in talent cultivation, academic innovation, and social service. The university extended sincere gratitude to the vast alumni community who have long cared for and supported its development and called on all SJTU alumni worldwide to strive together to write a new chapter, which resonated strongly among the audience.

2.jpgDuring the ceremony, the SJTU President's Award, SJTU’s highest honor for spiritual and cultural development, was presented to 10 individuals and groups, including Tian Xinmin, Special Advisor to the Dean of Antai College.

At the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award Ceremony, Antai alumni Ouyang Quan, Zhang Gang, Nie Fanqi, Weng Jiyi, Zhang Lei, Huang Yong, and Li Xia were awarded the title of SJTU Distinguished Alumni Siyuan Outstanding Contribution Award. Sheng Chengqiang & Dong Jie couple, Wang Zheng & Bai Dongming couple, Yu Weijing, Sha Hongzhi, Tian Guang, Hou Zhenkun, Zhang Jianzheng, Zheng Lijun, Shang Jian, Wang Xiang, Li Mantie, Wang Liping, Chen Ranfang, and Tian Tingfeng were awarded the title of SJTU Distinguished Alumni Siyuan Contribution Commemoration Award. These alumni have inherited the university's spirit, dedicated themselves to their careers, given back to society and their alma mater, adding luster to both the university and the college in various fields.


New Journey — Antai College Alumni Reunion Ceremony


7.jpgIn the afternoon, the Antai College Alumni Reunion Ceremony for the 130th anniversary of SJTU commenced at Xuhui Campus. Chen Fangruo, Dean of Antai College, Jiang Wenning, Secretary of the Party Committee, Sang Dawei, Vice Dean, and Li Hourui, Vice Secretary of the Party Committee, gathered with returning alumni to recall the development journey of the college.

Dean Chen Fangruo delivered a report on the college's development, focusing on key initiatives such as industry research, laboratory construction, and international cooperation, comprehensively demonstrating the college's achievements in recent years. 9.jpg

Vice Dean Sang Dawei engaged in in-depth exchanges with alumni, extending a sincere invitation for them to continue providing suggestions, empower the college, and work together to promote the high-quality development of Antai College.

Four alumni representatives shared their learning experiences and life insights at Antai College, combined with their own growth and career paths, and talked about the profound impact of the college's education on their career development, encouraging the alumni present to bravely shoulder the mission of the times and demonstrate the responsibility of SJTU alumni. The representatives included Dong Changqi, an undergraduate alumnus of the class of 1982 and Deputy Director of Hubei Provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security; Yang Guoping, an MBA alumnus of the class of 1994, President of the MBA Alumni Association, Chairman of Dazhong Transportation (Group) Co., Ltd., and Chairman of Dazhong Public Utilities (Group) Co., Ltd.; Ouyang Quan, an EMBA alumnus of the class of 2003, Lifetime Honorary President of the EMBA Guangdong Alumni Association, and Chairman and President of Shenzhen Huafeng Century Investment (Group) Co., Ltd.; and Zhang Wen, an alumnus of the 35th China CEO Innovation Management Program and current SJTU-SMU DBA student, President of Jinzhida Group.

Following the ceremony, attendees engaged in free exchanges with teachers and classmates, reflecting on the past, discussing cooperation, and planning for the future.


Integrate with Warmth — Featured Antai Reunion Activities

The Antai Alumni Relay Race launched in the early morning, featuring 13 teams in a 130-kilometer relay—each member undertaking a 13-kilometer segment. Alumni from various industries and graduation years ran side by side, conveying passion and responsibility through their strides. 

16.jpgOutside the ceremony venue, recruitment activities by Antai alumni associations proceeded in an orderly manner.  Nearly 20 alumni organizations, covering academic programs, industries, regions and interest groups, set up on-site booths to showcase their features and service missions via achievement displays, interactive exchanges and on-site promotions. Alumni actively engaged and the integration of new and senior alumni further enhanced emotional ties between alumni, the college and the broader alumni community.

17.jpgMeanwhile, the Century-Old Campus tour took place in a warm atmosphere. Guided by volunteers, alumni started from Pao Siu Loong Library, passed through the New Upper Hall, Haoran High-tech Building, Sheng Mansion and the Old Library, then back to the college. Along the way, alumni paused to take photos and reflect on the campus’ profound heritage and rapid development.

18.jpgDuring the reunion, alumni and their families visited the Qian Xuesen Library and participated in the immersive science education activities. Through interactions with embodied intelligent robots, dual-perspective collaborative lectures and cutting-edge science courses, participants closely experienced technological charm, reviewed Mr. Qian Xuesen’s patriotic dedication to scientific causes, and inherited SJTU alumni’s spiritual legacy. 

In the evening, the 2nd "United Water" Antai Alumni Carnival – Huangpu River Night Cruise set sail from Bailianjing Wharf, marking the successful conclusion of the Alumni Reunion Day. On board the cruise, alumni gathered to engage in conversations, exchange insights and reinforce friendships amidst the magnificent of the Huangpu River and the gentle river breeze, in celebration of SJTU’s 130th anniversary.

Giving back — The Warmth of Donations

During the homecoming, senior alumni of the class of 1982 actively participated in the campus tree adoption campaign, expressing gratitude to ACEM, SJTU. They inherited the SJTU spirit through greenery, planted new shade for the 130-year-old university, and contributed to the ecological construction and long-term development of the campus with sincere hearts.

The on-site donation atmosphere was particularly strong, with the vast majority of alumni filled with gratitude and affection for their alma mater. Whether it was targeted donations to support the college's disciplinary construction and talent cultivation, or contributions to the 130th Anniversary Fund and donated materials, every kind act carried the deep affection of alumni for their alma mater.

With 130 years of inheritance and unremitting efforts, Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University will continue to take alumni as the bond to gather strength from all sides, deepen service and empowerment, move forward hand in hand with the majority of alumni, and ensure that the SJTU spirit shines brightly in the process of inheritance.
