On November 30, 2023, at the Xuhui campus, Shanghai Jiao Tong University hosted a warm ceremony celebrating Professor Huanchen WANG's 41 years of dedication to the university. The event was graced by Zhenbin YANG, Secretary of the CPC SJTU Committee; Kuiling DING, President, Deputy Secretary of the CPC SJTU Committee; Wen LING, an academician of the Chinese Engineering Academy; Feng GU, Executive Deputy Secretary of the CPC SJTU Committee; Fangruo CHEN, Dean of Antai College of Economics and Management (ACEM); Wenning JIANG, Secretary of the CPC Antai Committee; and representatives of Professor WANG's students. A two-minute video retrospected Professor WANG's remarkable moments during his career at Shanghai Jiao Tong University. A pioneer in the field of systems engineering in China and a trailblazer in the establishment of the management school at Jiao Tong University, Professor Wang has made outstanding contributions in the fields of automatic control, systems engineering, and management science and engineering. His connection with Jiao Tong University spans 72 years, with 64 years of dedication to teaching, nurturing generations of students. Renowned as the founder of China's population systems engineering, Professor Wang's decades of commitment, indifference to fame and fortune, and authentic life attitude exemplify the essence of a scholar.

University and college leaders presented congratulatory letters and flowers to Professor WANG and his wife, expressing gratitude and respect for his exceptional contributions. Professor Chongfeng WU, a student representative and faculty member of Antai College, reminisced about Professor WANG's meticulous guidance and profound impact, expressing gratitude to his mentor. President Kuiling DING, in his closing remarks, conveyed sincere greetings and high regard to Professor WANG and his wife. He lauded Professor WANG's contributions to the restoration of the management school, his academic achievements, mentorship to juniors, and role as a model, praising his nurturing character and dedication to national education. Amidst warm applause, WANG expressed his gratitude with "three bows of thanks, two congratulations and hopes, and one self-motivation." He thanked the organizational and leadership support, students' help and encouragement in scientific research, and the valuable experience since joining Jiao Tong University in 1951. He wished the university future success and prosperity, happiness and well-being for the guests, and motivated himself to continue contributing to the university's development, upholding the motto "When you drink from the stream, remember the spring, love the country, and honor the school."
