A Delegation Visit of The University of Manchester Headed by Vice President Fiona Devine 2023-11-29


On the morning of November 29th, Dean Chen Fangruo and Associate Dean Yin Haitao had a meeting with Fiona Devine, Vice President & Dean of Faculty of Humanities of The University of Manchester, Kenneth McPhail, Head of Alliance Manchester Business School, Richard Cotton, Head of International Development, and Sherry Fu, Head of UoM China Center. It’s the first visit that Prof. Devine led a delegation to our college as Vice President since the pandemic.
During the meeting, Dean Chen Fangruo first congratulated Fiona and Kenneth on their appointments, then, he introduced Antai’s key achievements and development focus in recent years, as well as the accomplishments achieved by the Industry Research Institute, Shenzhen Institute of Industry Research and SJTU-BoC Institute of Technology and Finance. Dean Chen Fangruo also expressed his willingness to deepen cooperation between the two parties.
Afterwards, Vice President Fiona Devine introduced the composition of Faculty of Humanities, the students and the development of each school within the Faculty of Humanities. As AMBS has established a good cooperative and exchange relationship with Antai for more than twelve years, she hopes that the Faculty of Humanities can establish more cooperation on student exchange and degree programmes with Antai.
After the meeting at Antai, Vice President Fiona Devine and her delegation went to Minhang Campus and had a working lunch meeting with Zhang Zhaoguo, Vice President of SJTU and Guo Liang, Vice Director of the International Exchange and Cooperation Division, SJTU.
Founded in 1824, The University of Manchester is a British "Red Brick University" and a founding member of the British Russell Group. The UoM has three faculties, there are four schools under Faculty of Humanities (Alliance Business School, School of Arts, Languages and Cultures, School of Environment, Education and Development and School of Social Sciences).
