Three First-Level Disciplines of ACEM Rated A+ in THE China Subject Ratings in 2022 2022-05-15

On May 11th, 2022, Times Higher Education (THE) released the third edition of China Subject Ratings. The subject ratings include 91 Chinese mainland universities and 1,543 other overseas universities, using the subject classification method of the Chinese Ministry of Education, covering 82 subjects, and comparing the performance of universities on a scoring system from A+ to C-. The results show that in most subjects, the performance of Chinese mainland universities is better than that of universities in other parts of the world. Overall speaking, the average rating of Chinese mainland universities is B+, while the average rating of global universities is B.

Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) performed well in the Times Higher Education (THE) China Subject Ratings 2022, with a total of 41 subjects rated A+. Among them, the three first-level disciplines -- Business Administration, Management Science and Engineering, and Applied Economics, which are mainly operated by ACEM, have been rated as A+, which is A+ again since the rating by Times Higher Education (THE) China Subject Ratings in 2021.

The index system of Times Higher Education China Subject Ratings 2022 is mainly divided into five aspects: teaching (learning environment), research (publication volume, income and reputation), citations (research influence), internationalization (international teachers, students and international collaboration), and industry income (knowledge transfer).

Among them, different subjects in the specific indicators of the weight are different. It is reported that the rating data mainly comes from the 2022 Times Higher Education World University Rankings, the 2021 and 2022 Times Higher Education China Academic Reputation Survey, the 2020 and 2021 Academic Reputation Survey, and Elsevier bibliometric database.
