"Data-Driven Management Decision Making Lab, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, " (DDMDML-SJTU) was established with a history traced back to the foundation of Institute of System Engineering in 1983 and of Shanghai Behavioral Science Society in 1985, under the leadership of academician Zhang Zhongjun, Prof. Wang Huanchen and Prof. Wu Jianzhong,. The Lab entered a new stage of development in the 21th century as our experimental platforms such as Big Data and Business Intelligence Laboratory, Smith Experimental Economics Research Center and Behavioral Science Laboratory were set up successively and later integrated into the Laboratory when Professor Chen Fangruo, former MUTB Professor of Columbia Business School, returned to China and assumed deanship of Antai College of Economics & Management in 2018. The Laboratory is focused on strategic national needs and plans, researching on topics such as Digital Transformation of Enterprises & Urban Governance, China's Intelligent Decision-Making Management . In November 2021, led by Antai College of Economics and Management, the Laboratory was selected into the first batch of Philosophy and Social Science Laboratories (cultivation) list of the Ministry of Education. 

Following the positioning of "a world-class innovation center of management decision theory, a talent training base and a decision-making think tank for critical management practice issues in China", we embrace the era of digital transformation, the interdisciplinary and new technological trend in order to solve practical management issues. 

Based upon our integrated approach of combining research with teaching- , the Lab plays a critical role contributing  to management decision-making theories, cultivating a team of talents in our enterprises and urban governance, giving intelligent decision-making support to significant management issues and becoming a domestically & internationally influential experimental research base in the field of management and decision-making.
