Ⅰ. Introduction

The Institute of Psychology and Behavioral Science of Shanghai Jiao Tong University was established in 2018 as an important achievement of the collaborative development of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Shanghai Mental health Center. The Institute of Psychology and Behavioral Science is a cross-disciplinary platform of the university, an important base for the construction of Psychology as a world-class discipline, an indispensable foundation for the basic disciplines and comprehensive research of the university. The institute is also a feature platform for serving multidisciplinary services and supporting cross-team collaborations. By the end of 2018, the discipline of Psychology and Psychiatry has been ranked in the top 1% of the world by ESI, along with the other 18 disciplines in Shanghai Jiao Tong University. The institute is managed by a cross-disciplinary team, including the current executive director  Li Weidong who has an academic background in Molecular Biology, and the vice director Tang Ninyu who has an academic background in Social Psychology, and Li Chunbo who has an academic background in Psychiatry. There is also a faculty team covering multidisciplinary research areas, including 16 double - appointed professors and researchers from various schools and units affiliated with Shanghai Jiao Tong University and 2 visiting professors. There are 16 doctoral supervisors and 1 master's supervisor. The Institute is under the responsibility of the Dean under the leadership of the Institute Committee. The team will be devoted to promoting the intersection and collaboration between different disciplines, pooling together the strengths and wisdom of all parties, and working together to build the Department of Psychology of Shanghai Jiao Tong University into a world - class discipline. 

Ⅱ. The Development Vision

The Research Institute has the vision and mission of building a global top research platform for behavioral and psychological sciences:

1.     Dedicated to uncovering the psychological mechanisms of human cognitive and social behaviors;

2.     Dedicated to developing psychological methods for the research of humanities, social sciences, and art;

3.     Dedicated to providing psychological evidence for the development of frontier sciences such as brain science.

Through the innovation in research methods, research paradigms, theoretical achievements and the extension of research fields, the Institute persists in supporting the basic disciplines and comprehensive research of the university, and promotes the integration of muliple disciplines of the university.
