Dean Chen Joined the Webinar on “COVID-19: Lessons Learnt from the Chinese Experience"

Invited by Prof. Josep Franch, Dean of ESADE Business School, Prof. Fangruo Chen, Dean of Antai College of Economics & Management, spoke on the Webinar on “COVID-19: Lessons Learnt from the Chinese Experience" on May 21. Prof. Qiao Liu, Dean of Guanghua School of Management, Peking University, and Prof. Jun Lu, Dean of Lingnan (University College), Sun Yat-sen University also shared their viewpoints in the panel discussion.
The three key speakers discussed topics regarding the transition to online teaching, the challenges of maintaining normal operations and the impact on future development of business schools. The one-hour online discussion attracted hundreds of business school deans and administrators from around the world.
Speaking of the impact, Prof. Chen mentioned financial and technological impact in the short term. As to the long-term impact, he said that business education is obliged to go through tremendous changes and that the purpose and advantage of university education could be challenged. New phenomenon such as home-bound economy is due to affect the approach and content of business education too.
