Company Visit to Elpozo & SIAL China 2019

——2019 ACEM International Students Activities

May 16, 2019, a group of international students participated in the company visit to the ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN's exhibition at SIAL China 2019, Asia’s largest food innovation exhibition, under the organization of the International Office of ACEM.

The visit was warmly welcomed by Mr. Tomas Fuertes Fernandez, the president of ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN. Mr, John Hickin as a representative from ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN gave students a comprehensive introduction about the company, and had very nice communication with each student regarding his/her study and career plan. Students also explored the whole exhibition of SIAL China 2019.

ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN is the most important company in the Grupo Fuertes Holding Company and is dedicated to the production of healthy and nutritional meat-based products. The company’s origins date back to 1935 with the opening of a modest food establishment located in ‘El Pozo Concejil’ square, in the Murcian town of Alhama de Murcia. In 1954 it started its industrial activity with its first sausage factory and it has continued to grow since then, based on a strategy of reinvestment and continuous improvement. Last year, the company’s turnover broke the thousand million euro barrier, which means an increase of 7.9 per cent, whilst investments exceeded 45 million, mainly aimed at increasing eficiency and competitiveness in an increasingly more global market. It currently has a workforce of 4,150 people.

This fall semester, ACEM will kick start the Oversea Internship Exchange Program with the University of Murcia in Spain. Participating students will not only be able to do academic exchange in the University of Murcia but also join the internship in ELPOZO ALIMENTACIÓN in Spain. The selection of the Overseas Internship Exchange Program will be announced soon.
