Institute of Chinese Enterprise Development
The Shanghai Jiao Tong University Institute of Chinese Enterprise Development, with close relationships with Chinese enterprises, aims to serve Chinese enterprises as well as study them as subjects. It is the goal of the center to become a world-class research and media organization in the realm of China business practices. The center relies on ACEM’s strong academic, alumni-related and entrepreneurial resources, and works in cooperation with Chinese enterprises, government departments, and research institutions at home and abroad.
Sino-US Global Logistics Institute
The Sino-US Global Logistics Institute (SUGLI) was formed as a collaborative pooling of the logistical research and teaching resources of both Shanghai Jiao Tong University and the Georgia Institute of Technology. Through cooperation, the two institutes benefit from the sharing of advanced teaching and technological resources. The Sino-US Global Logistics Institute carries out logistical research and technological development, and educates specialists in advanced logistics. The center was established to encourage the development of modern logistics in China and to promote Sino-American cooperation.
SJTU Smith Experimental Economics Research Center
The SJTU Smith Experimental Economics Research Center was named after Nobel Laureate, and director of the center, Professor Vernon Smith. The Smith Experimental Economics Laboratory has 24 stand-alone PC client operating machines, 2 sets of console machines and a dedicated terminal server. The Lab has imported the latest experimental economics and research software applications from George Mason University, and has translated the software to Chinese and tailored and upgraded the software according to research needs. It has become the first standard experimental economics laboratory in China.
Research Center on Metropolitan Regions of China
The Research Center on Metropolitan Regions of China (RCMRC) aims to give Shanghai Jiao Tong University a leading role in metropolitan and regional economic development. The Center coordinates research in cutting-edge scientific fields, such as fields related to the study of metropolitan and regional development, and foreign aid management. The Center makes use of SJTU’s research resources to enhance the academic, government and the business sectors of the community. All of these sectors work closely with the Center to promote Chinese the improvement of theoretical research, knowledge dissemination and the practical application of research results.
Financial Engineering Research Center
The Financial Engineering Research Center is dedicated to research in financial engineering, financial theory and financial complexities in leading-edge research. After the initial research phase, the Center then applies its results to the development of financial enterprises and the deepening of financial reform. It provides the government and enterprises with relevant advice and technical decision-making support. The Centre has begun research on financial market price behavior complexity, making use of SJTU’s comprehensive interdisciplinary resources in engineering, management science, mathematics, hard sciences and other technical fields. Through mathematical modeling and the extensive use of digital technology, the Center studies investor behavior in order to improve pricing analyses and product design.
Security Investment Research Institute
The Security Investment Research Institute relies on high-speed development of national finance, fosters high quality talent professionals to adapt the demand of modern society, provides supplies excellent consultant and academic service for society, government and enterprises. The Institute possesses the right to offer bachelor degree and master degree.
The Institute has a quite young faculty, in which there are 2 professors, tutors of Ph. D. students , 7 associate professors,11 teachers with PH. D.
Until now the Institute has published over 20books and 100 papers, undertaken over 50research projects, which include 5projects sponsored by national foundation, over 20 projects sponsored by provinces and cities, over 30 projects entrusted by enterprises and others.
In facilities, the Institute possesses “the International Financial Library of Shanghai Jiao Tong University-Reuto”, “China Security Market DataBank”, which is one of the most excellent databases in China and includes historical stock prices and financial data
Industrial Organization and Technological Innovation Research Center
Industrial Organization and Technical Innovation Research Center was established in June 2002, and is an interdisciplinary research institution, with the theory of industrial organization and technology management and innovation as basic theory. In view of the current changeable global economic and technical innovation, and the crossing and accelerated evolution of various industries promoted by technological innovation, the center pays attention to researching hot issues in the field of industrial organization and technology management and technology innovation, in particular the cross impact between them. The research center focuses on strengthening domestic and international academic exchanges and international cooperation, and has regular academic exchanges with the Technology Management International Research Center, MIT. The research center also receives funds support from National Natural Science Foundation of China, Doctoral Fund of the Ministry of Education of China, Shanghai Municipal Advisory Fund, and SJTU “985 Plan” Project.
Operations & Logistics Management Research Center
Operations and Logistics Management Research Center is a modern logistics research center established by ACEM in 2001 for teaching and research, advisory and training. The center has more than 10 professor and associate professor members such as JI Jian Hua, HUANG Pei Qing, CHEN Jun Fang, and more than 50 doctoral students and master students. It has established friendly cooperative relations with Columbia University, Yale University, Duke University, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Germany BIT Institute. Director of the Center: Professor JI Jian Hua.
Over the past three years, ACEM Operations and Logistics Management Research Center has completed nearly 20 projects . The center has also published more than 70 scholarly articles in the domestic and foreign academic journals; edited, co-edited and translated eight academic monographs.
In addition, the Center is mainly involved in the research activities of Sino-US Logistics Research Institute, established by SJTU and Georgia Institute of Technology. The center’s research activities in the Sino-US Logistics Research institute make contributions for cooperation between China and the United States, as well as Shanghai and Georgia State in logistics research and development, for speeding up the development of China’s modern logistics technology and industry, for promoting the growth of modern service industry in Shanghai and accelerating the construction of Shanghai as an international shipping center.
WTO and Economy Globalization Research Center
Shanghai Jiao Tong University WTO and Economy Globalization Research Center was founded when China became a member of WTO, the mission of the center is to study WTO regulations, its internal mechanism and the economy globalization, to understand the rules of international economy and trade development, and to use the understanding of the overall trend to offer strategic recommendations and solutions to government and corporations in their effort to participate in the international division of labor, taking advantage of the comparative advantage and coordinating the relationship with the various international interest groups, creating a international environment that is favorable to China’s economic development. In the mean time, the center hopes that through these research work, it can contribute to the effort in making SJTU a world class university by raising the level of international economic and trade department of the management school of SJTU
Shanghai Jiao Tong University Luxury Brand Research Center
The Luxury Brand Research Center of China was established in Shanghai, the fashion and financial capital of China, on June 21, 2010.
The center consists of 12 professors from China and around the world, and 16 researchers. Since its inception, the center has developed strategic partnership in academic research with brand research centers of Columbia University (the United State), HEC (France), Munich University (LMU, Germany), the University of Tokyo (Japan), Seoul National University (SNU, Korea) and Singapore Management University (SMU). The center also maintains it close relationrship with French Boutique Association, Italian Boutique Association as well as luxury brand top management such as Hermes, SHANG XIA, Audi, Blancpain, Bottega Veneta, Chanel, Cartier, dunhill, Ermenegildo Zegna, Giorgio Armani, Vacheron Constantin, Maserati, Porsche etc.
With an international vantage, the center studies the evolution of European luxury brands, paying great attention to the paths of individual development, of successes, twists and turns.
With a strong focus on the Chinese market, the center studies the changes of economic structure and development path of China, research deeply on evolution of consumer lifestyle in China, captures systematically the changes in consumer psychology and progressive maturation of the consumer habit formation process in China. The center has been providing advice and guidance for European luxury brands to further expansion in mainland China. Meanwhile, the center’s research feeds help Chinese government institutions and the growth, expansion and internationalization of Chinese local brands.
The center has published of more than 10 influential books, including "Luxury Brand Management - Concepts and Practice", " Year Book of Chinese Brand" (2007-2013), “Corporate Development Strategy”, “Strategic Brand Management ", “Brand Aesthetics and Management”, "Marketing Strategy”, etc. It has provided consulting service and high-end brand management training for more than 50 domestic and foreign companies. It also has trained more than 580 undergraduates, graduates, MBAs and Executive MBAs..
The center is located in the scenic compound of No.1954 Huashan Road, Xuhui District, with offices on the 2nd floor of the 115-year historic academic building of Chinese Studies of Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
Currently, the Station has 17 professors, among whom 15 are Ph. D supervisors. During the past 10 years, this station completed more than 200 research projects sponsored by national, provincial or Shanghai governments, and won over 20 national or provincial prizes for scientific and technologic progress. Moreover, 16 monographs were released, and about 600 articles were published in famous international and domestic journals.
