Topic: Driving Your Career in a Challenging Economic Environment
Description: The on-going economic turn down once again forces many to rethink career and success itself, as profound impact is felt on worldwide. Ironically, while the situation poses stressful challenges to some, it also opens exciting opportunities for others. Opportunities favor the prepared, especially under extraordinary circumstances.

A paradigm shift seems to have been ushered in by a fundamental change in the way how great careers are built: from entirely company-centric to a dynamic process between company and the individual. This is especially true in China, given the country’s severe supply-demand imbalances in terms of business talents. Business career planning has thus become an essential part of any serious MBA program, which can no longer been treated as an after-thought. Future business leaders must learn to do the following very well:

- Knowing the self: personality motives, behavioral advantages and aspirations
- Knowing the targets: industries, companies, organizations and jobs
- Developing a strategy: preparation and execution

In this short introductory session we discuss the basic aspects of career planning, and explore the right tools to use and critical skills to hone for international MBA students.
